Philosophy And Methods

In a world of aversive and fear based methods, positive reinforcement is a game changer. I believe that kindness is the greatest foundation for creating a lasting and positive bond between humans and our dogs. With kindness also comes a willingness to learn and understand our dogs. When we understand the “why” behind what they do, we are able to better meet their needs as well as learn the tools needed to help them succeed in training.

When training any dog, I believe that fear, pain, or intimidation should never be used. It may offer quick or easy results, but in the long term, can become damaging. Dogs may become fearful or aggressive and depending on methods used, may even develop physical complications.

Positive reinforcement may sometimes require more time and effort, but in the long run, the result is a happy, confident, and healthy dog. This in turn creates an enduring relationship between human and dog. One that is built on understanding, kindness, and love.
